Radiohead - The King Of Limbs

I have hope for them still. how many bands have put out music as stellar for that long of a span? I can't think of any. The Bends > In Rainbows was 12 years and everything within that period was great.

I don't think that at all. HTTT absolutely bombed with fans at first, and now it's commonly regarded as good whilst containing some of their best tracks.

I absolutely agree with this! It's really disheartening as they have produced some mind blowing music for it to sizzle away. I guess most long-term groups find this?

Yes, I think so. Unless they completely change their approach and musical style, they have milked the general Radiohead vibe for as long as they can. They went from arena rock to some of the best alternative rock to progressive rock to electronic to electronic alternative...where else can they really go? They have to start exploring completely new territory to do anything groundbreaking again.

I most definitely feel this way about In Rainbows. Another decent record, but nothing like the albums before it. Most of Thom Yorke's solo album could easily fit onto either In Rainbows or the King of Limbs, so this tells me yes, they really have gone past their heyday.

contrary to popular opinion, I really think they were trying to change their music significantly with KoL. the music is more about texture and less about ebbs and flows. it manages this while retaining their one constant element throughout their career, Thom's vocals.

unfortunately for us, they didn't pull it off as well as most of their other material.
