True. I just wish he actually had some decent melodies and good lyrics though.

I do agree that this album is excellent but I also agree with you about his lyrics. He has some great lyrics and then he has some pretty awful lyrics.

Which lyrics would you call great? I can't think of anything from the album that jumped out at me as even above average.

When he talks about choking the writer's of South Park with a fish dick. I thought that was pretty clever. Just small lyrics like that popped out at me. And then some lyrics where he sounds pretentious and makes me wanna stop listening to it.

Bury the Hatchet, Mr. Zoon.

I ****ing loved Heartless. That was a time where I felt like he had actually known loss, and what he was singing about.

Not sure if serious. :/

I'll listen to that one again. Maybe the lyrics will surprise me.

Edit: Wait a second, that song isn't even on the album we're talking about.

Heartless isn't, and I didn't like that track, too much focus on being gimmicky with auto-tune.
Slow Groove did a terrible job of convincing you on Kanye's lyrical abilities, so I'll have a go.

Here's an extract from Blame Game;

'We walk away like strangers in the street
Gone for eternity
We erased one another
So far from where we came
With so much of everything, how do we leave with nothing
Lack of visual empathy equates the meaning of L-O-V-E
Hatred and attitude tear us entirely'

Admittingly this song also contains a lot of misogyny and posturing, but this part is a good use of Kanye scrapping the pussy hound persona and talking from the heart.

Not bad. I wouldn't say my mind is blown, but those are okay lyrics. I went back and listened to that song to get a better sense of the context and still wasn't exactly blown away, but there are elements of the track that I liked, especially the spliced together rap that starts at about 2:30.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about him in general.

If we're talking in general, one song I've found in my recent exploration of his albums that I think has good lyrics is "Roses" from Late Registration. Actually, thus far that's the only song on any of the four albums I've listened to that I'd say that I unequivocally like.
