I've been playing the new record alot. The addition of the new guitarist hasnt hurt them at all and the transition has been a smooth one. I was a little taken aback by the vocals the first time i listened to it, i felt alot of the vocal delivery was very clean when compared to the last two records but i dont feel that way anymore. I think the variety between the different styles of vocal delivery is an effective one and more reminiscent of the debut record than the last one.
Very tight record. They have worked in a couple of radio-friendly(ish) singles, one or two that will never recieve airplay for one reason or another and maintained their aggression and overall psychotic tendencies. Much better than The Royal Society, even though i also really like that record too. I went to see them last tonight and they neglected that record in favour of alot of material from this one and the debut. |

I still play Horse of the Dog a lot. When that album came out these guys were one of my favorite discoveries of the year. I really need to check this new album out...
