Dark, minimalist, pop-ish ballads beautifully written across a background of engrossing post-rock/ambient beats, ala Arms and Sleepers. I've been trying to find something remotely similar in scope to their Matador album and I'm surprised that I can't seem to no matter how much searching I do. A couple of examples:

Silent Shout is awesome. Anyone who likes that should also check out their sister act, Fever Ray (solo project by the female member, quite literally a sister act because the other half of The Knife consists out of her brother). Fever Ray's msuic is like The Knife, but darker and pretty inaccessible, but rewarding as hell. Anyone who likes The Knife should be able to enjoy Fever Ray.

Fed up with all the wobble wobble Dubstep that is absolutely frigging everywhere these days? Me too, so welcome Excision that is much more harder and that little more intense.
