Oops, I actually didn't intend for that to be in the same post. I...don't know how that happened. I'll fix it now, thanks:
I haven't listened yet to fully decide on some details, but I've given it a few listens and enjoyed it so I went with very good. It's sort of a different sound for Gorillaz; it's a bit more electronic in general, for example. Perhaps there are a few too many collaborations that could leave you wondering if you're listening to Gorillaz or just a random assortment of musicians, but to me it's enjoyable regardless. And yeah, hearing them in order is probably best. Demon Days is a pretty strong album too, so check it out when you can.

I've listened to it several times and it's a definite Average for me.
Not bad but none of it really gets me off. I do imagine it was fun for Albarn and all of his guests but I don't feel much as the listener.

^ That's kind of how I feel too.
I dunno, I might like it more hearing it more, I might not. But nothing on it catches me as immediately as stuff on the other two albums did, so... meh.

It took me a while to get into the first two albums fully and this one will be the same I think. I didn't immediately dislike it and a couple of passages grabbed me from the off so I knew it was going to be a grower.
A few people (not just here but all over the net) are bemoaning the fact that it's not catchy enough- so what? There are plenty of tracks on the first two that take repeated listens it's just that this album doesn't have any 'big' singles on it but that's something to admire in my book and shows that Albarn is not content to write a bunch of commercial singles and instead challenge himself even more. I think albums like this push Pop music forward and I think in a few years time this will be seen as something of a mini classic.

Haven't really got a feel for it yet. There are a few tracks that I really liked, but even they didn't stand out enough for me to remember them... I couldn't tell you which ones I liked without listening a few more times to be reminded- maybe one of the ones with Little Dragon in particular. I see it as a grower as well, but not much more than average.
