I really liked the first two, I heard "Stylo" and wasn't really that impressed but I still need to listen to the rest of the album.

I liked a couple tracks, but nothing about it was too special. Still, I found it pretty solid as far as albums go.

EDIT: Nvm. I have a new found love for Rhinestone Eyes, Welcome to the Plastic Beach, On Melancholy Hill, and various others :].

Still, I prefer Demon Days or Gorillaz.

I bought this album a couple of months back and finally got around to listening to it about a week ago. I'm surprised I didn't listen to it earlier compared that Gorillaz is one of my favorite bands, but hey, you get busy. Anyways, as for a review, I would recommend this album for any Gorillaz fan. The Orchestral Intro, Rhinestone Eyes, Stylo, Glitter Freeze(it has a very heavy wah-wah guitar-synch intro at first which is the only good part of the song), On Melancholy Hill, Plastic Beach, To Binge(this one is my favorite), and the intro to Unknowing Cloud are all very deep catchy tunes that resonate a feeling of calm and tranquility throughout you. The rest of the songs on the albums are literally hit and miss, some will annoy you so much that it'll make you want to take the CD back to the store.

All around though this is a sturdy album. The Gorillaz-only songs are the ebst in the entire line-up while the combinations with other artists like Snoop Dogg sound extremely out of any element of music. There is no describing some of the songs chords and arrangements in a few songs(like Pirate Jet). Out of the 16 songs on the album, I believe that only 7 are able to be replayed ever again. The others will make you cringe. So for a good try and a journey into the unknown Gorillaz, I give you a 3 out of 5 =D

White Flag, Sweepstakes and Cloud of Unknowing are the only ones that I don't really get. The rest of the tracks are genius I don't know what your problem is :P

Everyone has different tastes my friend. Some of the songs I found repetitious with either the chorus or the music itself. I'm not saying you won't like it, I just think I'll never listen to them again or skip them if I throw the album on. This album is by no means perfect but rather an experimental journey into the mind. Plastic Beach demands that you take the time to understand it both lyrically and acoustically and that's why I love it.

Oh yeah, it wasn't an accusation, more an observation of a difference in taste.

I don't think it does. I don't think I've ever felt an album has demanded me to understand it lyrically or acoustically to enjoy it. I know other people feel differently, but if I notice something cool it's like "oh, that's pretty neat" rather than "oh that's changed my entire understanding / enjoyment of the album."

Like the "boing" sound on Pirate Jet. Didn't realise it was actually saying Pirate Jet until like yesterday, and it was neat, but not groundbreaking!

I can't stand Superfast Jelly Fish. However Glitter Freeze and On Melancholy Hill are probably two of my favorite Gorillaz songs

Think he over did it a bit on some tracks - Sweepstakes and Some Kind of Nature come to mind. However, White Flag, Rhinestone Eyes, Superfast Jellyfish, Empire Ants.... the whole album bar them first 2 songs I mentioned is incredibly diverse and a very colourful and interesting treat for my ears. I was quite gutted about the song he did with The Horrors not making it onto the final album though, hopefully that will be on the potential "Plastic Beach 2" Albarn talked about in a recent interview! (Can't see him releasing it myself though)

In other Gorillaz news, has anyone heard the new track? Doncamatic (youtube it as I can't post links) - not quite sure what to make of it yet, the vocals really won't grow on me. And can you believe its a boy singing! However, I think its such a vibrant beat he has produced, hails very similarly to the 'bouncy' sound he achieved with Rhinestone Eyes but more upbeat - anyone understand what I mean by that?

The fact Del was not on this was horrible. He was the best part of there music. Maybe it is just me but it seems like this group has steadily declined over there carrier. Some groups just do I guess, because its not personal I love everything they do individually.

Ps: Dan the Automator is the best Producer one could ask for.
