Voted "very good" but I'd actually put it at just "good"--I like it, but I think I overplayed it a bit because the burned copy I had was the only CD in my car for a while.

I seemed to like it a lot on the first listen but it that wore off pretty quick. Now the only songs i really listen to are Ambling Amp, Madder Red and O.N.E. It just seems like a very average album overall. And i must say that the opening track The Children is terrible

I really did not like this album when I first listened. That sucks when you get tickets to see them as a birthday present... After seeing them live, funnily enough my opinion changed slightly. They are great, lively performers. Perhaps a bit flashy for my taste but somehow they made it work. Since the show I am liking the album more and more. I don't think Yeasayer will ever be a fav but I like how it has reminded me that you should never make a final judgement on a band until you've seen them perform live. I voted Very Good.

I'm a huge fan of their first album.. All Hour Cymbals had a unique, fascinating sound that I still love.
With Odd Blood I think they've replaced their songwriting with expensive production. While there are a few great tracks ("Ambling Alp," "O.N.E."), it just doesn't stand up to All Hour Cymbals song-for-song. |

I haven't had enough time to give the album my full attention, but it's certainly one of the more notable rock/electronica pop albums. I've put Madder Red, O.N.E. & Rome in rotation on my radio show. A lot of their tracks have that high sheen, glossy Roxy Music production sound.
Madder Red is my own cherry picked selection. I love the falsetto chorus singing on the segues between verses and the mysterious Asian flavor of the music. |

Finally got around to playing this Monday and right now for the second time. Some great tracks on here, I'm liking the overall positive vibe. All in all I probably like it as much as the debut...3-4 great songs and the rest pretty average. They might grow on me.
Can't rate because "very good" and "average" don't apply for the entire album, and there's no middle ground between the two options. How about good? Average is not good, and very good is...very good.
