Better than FWN. Anyone who think otherwise is wrong.

I just found FWN apart from a couple songs to be mostly boring, Humbug actually has some life to it. Also I think Jeweler's Hands is a great testament to how much they've matured. It's great they're moving forward, and not sticking to the same formula, like alot of other bands. They can't keep writing songs about Sheffield nightclubs forever.

FWN was about Sheffield nightclubs or even 1/10th about Sheffield nightclubs? News to me.

Guess you didn't listen much, eh mate?

I cannot believe a fan of garage rock in any capacity would've found FWN boring. I struggle to think of a dull moment.

As for Humbug, well, it's not out yet so there's no way to listen to it - but I'm sure I'll end up liking it a ton.

I'm gonna go excellent because as of now, I couldn't put any of their 3 albums in any order. I listened to all 3 yesterday and just plain couldn't decide.

Yeah, you people are obviously smoking a heavy dose of WRONG. I have no idea how anyone can say ANYTHING on Humbug is anywhere near as good or memorable as D is for dangerous, This house is a circus, Old yellow bricks, Fake tales, 505 or any number of their other songs/singles. You just can't so shut up. There isn't a single hit song on it and this is a band that's become huge based on catchy tunes. If they had put this out in 2006 instead of Whatever people say I am...no one would have payed ANY attention to them and that's a fact.

Moving on. I vote Fair. There are a few tunes I like, like Secret door, My propeller and Potion approaching. I'm sure some others will warm up to me but there's no way I'll ever think this is better than their first two and I'm sure as hell no track is gonna come close to topping the 140 plays D is for dangerous has racked up (my most played track on last.fm by far).

Maybe they don't want to have hit singles anymore and are exploring their sound a little more? It's not all about hit singles and quite frankly if that's what they were only about then people would become tired of them a la Oasis. It's no secet that turner has had his moments with fame and his dislike of certain aspects.

It's certainly not a brilliant album at all but I shall stay in your camp of 'wrong' and say that it is definitely better than FNW. That album hasn't even had a listen for over a year.

They got big because not only because of their catchy tunes but also their lyrics, attitude and energy.

I agree with you on this point. I went to an Arctic Monkeys concert a couple months ago, and they wouldn't play When the Sun Goes Down or Mardy Bum. I didn't realize til later it was because they were trying to work away from those kind of songs. But can you explain your last sentence? Do you know more about why Turner is so disillusioned with fame? I'd like to learn more about that.

And I agree with everyone who said Humbug was a grower. I hated it when I first listen to it, and now I absolutely love it, partially because I had to force feed it to myself in prep for their concert.
My favorite track by far is Dance Little Liar. Fire and Thud is great too, Cornerstone, Secret Door, all great.
