I just listened to "Know Your Enemy" while I was waiting to get my hair done. I've never heard such a repetitive song. It would have been so much better if they didn't have the same melody for the verse and the chorus. I was utterly disgusted...

This album really did nothing for me. I don't outright hate it, it's just mediocre in general. The only song that really stood out for me was 21 Guns almost exclusively due to the vocals. The rest just sounded like bland pop-punk just like American Idiot.
I'll have to go review my cd collection as it's been a while since I've listened to anything Green Day other than Dookie (still my favorite album), but I remember liking Kerplunk. I also remember being thoroughly disappointed when Insomniac came out and it's been all downhill from there.

I haven't bothered listening to the whole thing. It sounds way too overblown. I'm probably the minority (no pun, haha) in that I actually enjoyed American Idiot, but I really didn't want them to try to outdo it like they obviously tried to do with this album.
Also, Insomniac is a good album. I can't understand why it's so unappreciated.

i don't think Green Day sold out or got worse as they went on, i just see it as them evolving and trying new things. yeah, that's gonna turn some people off of their sound, but hell, it's their music.

Yeah the whole "Dookie was great, but the only worthy green day album" is getting tiresome. Nimrod was much better, as was Kerplunk, and unliek most peopel I really liked warning. I would rank them like this:
1.Nimrod 2.Kerplunk 3.Warning 4.Dookie 5.American Idiot 6.1,039 blahblahblah I didn't include 21st because I really have yet to listen to it enough to make a decision. |
