I'm already addicted to it...I knew I should have listened to it a lot sooner. I think it might be better than Cookie Mountain. It flows really nicely.

When I first heard the album I was wary because I knew that Spin named it Album of the Year last year, but I have to say it's a stellar album and I've enjoyed listening to it start to finish many many times.

Desperate Youth, Bloodthirsty Babes is my favorite, but this is close behind. Honestly never really gave this album a full listen before, just too much music and not enough time. I recently acquired a copy on vinyl; a friend into music like I am (all be it not the old stuff) has been supplying me with records I supposedly need to listen to while I sit here with my broken neck. I'm not sure why I never really listened to this before, I liked Desperate Babes a lot, but I guess after seeing it was different on the first song I just flipped through it fast and didn't give it time to sink in, writing it off. There's no way in hell it deserves the hype surrounding it - I saw this rocket to the top of tons of Best of 2008 lists and the like, which is absolutely wrong. But whatever, I thought it was a decent album that couldn't quite achieve the success (well, at least to me) of Desperate Youth. |

I love Dear Science. I liked TVotR before but this is the album that made me reliase how good they are. It made me go back and listen to the earlier albums again and appreciate them more. It was easily the best album of 2008 (well, of the albums I've heard...I'm always wary of saying something was the best when there's probably something better I haven't got round to listening to). I like Golden Age the best but there's not really a bad song on the album.
Edit: And Lover's Day. That song is just gorgeous. Last edited by Thursday Next; 09-11-2009 at 02:28 PM. |
