Hehe Janet is good (well, not really the last few albums).
Britney is the biggest female pop star of the last decade, no doubt. And she has a handful of singles that have been pretty good. But, she is not comparable to her mentor, the Queen of Pop, outside of being her generation's biggest female star- she is not as strong artistically or culturally, nor is she as important an artist/entertainer. But, she never really tried to be, so can't fault her much for that. |

I didn't realize how popular an artist is somehow correlates to musical talent, especially when it comes to pop.

^Oh, it doesn't- not at all. But, there are some mega-fans of an act who think that way- or, that if they're commercially successful in a major way, that it elevates them to greatness or something. Of course, it doesn't.
On the same token, let's not dismiss pop as an art form. There are a select group of individuals who have taken it to a level beyond the instantly gratifying, but disposable form- Spears isn't really one of them, though.

I think the entire process of this sick media machine should be held in court and tried for acts of social demoralization to the mainstream of society, and on a lower level, the mental abuse to a girl who was never to able to grow the ****-up because of them. Brittney Spears, on a seperate note, is physically an adault and needs to take her past and shave it like her hair. I think if she just processed through all of those personal issues, really really thought through them, and then had someone else do the singing and just learned how to play an instrament and wrote lyrics BASED ON THAT STRUGGLE... then, and only then would she be able to redeem the damage she has caused to the world by even being on the top of the chart.
...society today. |
