I can't decide whether or not to actually listen to it. It's becoming a sort of neurosis. On the one hand I already have a sort of conviction that there's little chance of me liking it, but who knows, I might be surprised.

Ditto, then there's the conviction that if I actually do like it I'll have no excuse for being a ***.

Yeah there's massive hype pretty much everywhere you go, there's no escaping knowing that Coldplay have a new album out over here. Biggest current band in the world, no? Far as I'm led to understand from airplay/sales stats.

I downloaded the two hit singles from iTunes... good enough for now.

In general, Coldplay is just an OK band for me. I'm not denying they are talented and good at what they do, I just can't really get into their music, though I do hear a song by them every once in a while that I really like. For instance, I really loved "Trouble", but despise "Yellow". Honestly, I haven't really checked them out since "Parachutes". Having said that, I tried to keep an open mind when listening to the four tracks they have on Last.fm from this album. So far, so good. I like the "poppiness" of it. It seems more upbeat and peppy than their previous work, but again, I can only base that on the few times I've checked them out in the past. I think I'll end up getting this album sooner or later.
