What? No posts in this thread yet? I think this album kicks ass, I'm really starting to like these guys. This album lives up to the hype for sure, great noise rock all the way through...and "Brain Burner" is an incredible album closer. It's nice to see such a good young band tearing it up on their first proper album. I gave it a Very Good, A.K.A. a 3.5 on RYM.

I don't really get it.
|
First impressions: underwhelmed. It may pick up in coming days.
|
Second impressions: it's absolute poo.
Wait for the thirds. |
I like! Works just as well as a chilled out album as it does a punk/noise album for me. Lots of catchiness to be had, my fave is Miner at the mo but Eraser and Sleep Hold are brilliant too.
Hard to say whether this will get old, but for the moment its great. |
Third impressions: this album is fookin' great! Best new album I've heard all year!
BY GOLLY GOSH I just agreed with Piss Me Off again. What the bloody hell is going on here! What's your name btw? I can't be calling you that! |

Been waiting to hear some things about this hype album. Hype albums generally scare me because of the band-wagon-esque fandom. But I did like Vampire Weekend.........

Oh - judging from the way people are talking about it - I know it doesn't sound like VW. I'm just saying - they are a hype band akin to Vampire Weekend.

VW are hyped in both the mainstream and the indie circuit, whereas No Age are just hyped in the latter i'd say.
Album update: Still good, whey. |
this is an awesome album. i have high expectations for their live show.

i wasn't that blown away by weirdo rippers so i'd been putting off nouns... but nouns is a much more focused effort. weirdo rippers is probably more of a grower.
|
I enjoy this album.

I love this album. Sounds like if My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth had a baby, but couldn't take care of it so Mission of Burma adopted. But all comparisons aside, this is my favorite album of 2008 so far (Im still waiting for Microcastles and Skeletal Lamping). MUCH more focused than "Weirdo Rippers". If you've heard "Weirdo Rippers" and wonder how it compares to "Nouns", every song on "Nouns" has the focus and immediacy of "Boy Void", aside from the two instrumentals.
Saw them live a few weeks ago at the Middle East Downstairs with Abe Vigoda and High Places. It was loud as tits, they played most of "Nouns" and "Rippers", and only $10 to boot! Definately worth it. |
Dinnt see anything special about it, sorry.

Yeah, this is a really good record, one of the year's best. And an awful lot better than empty tripe like Fleet Foxes. I still find myself listening to it this many months after it surfaced. Generally there are too many records out in a year for one to last that long, so I feel this one has done well.
