Taurig is very cool, possibly inspired by his recent excursions with the Von Sudenfed thing? Strange Town is great but that's the track that's messed up at the moment. '50 year old man' cracks me up, 11 minutes well spent always

Strange Town is probably the worst track on the album , but it's a cover so thats ok.

I would say it's probably their best since Extricate.
My biggest problem with their last 3 or 4 albums is that they tend to fade a bit towards the end. This one doesn't do that. It's pretty solid the whole way through. It is kind of experimental but it's nothing they've not already done before, with the exception of Taurig. It's a bit like they've taken the stuff that works on all their albums between say 1996-2007 and made an album out of it.

Good Best Bits:
Wolf Kidult Man The first bit of '50 Year-Old Man' Taurig The Not So Good Bits: The rest of '50 Year-Old Man' Strange Town In Conclusion: Better than the last LP but not as good as 'Reformation'. Great MES quotes from forthcoming book: "I always try and dress smart. You can get good stuff from Primark for next to nowt. There's no need to look like a demmick, no-one takes a scruff seriously." "My favourite shop is Bargain Booze, they often have good offers on." |
