haven't heard the album, but howabout that vox organ on 'Mercy'? She's definitely harking back to another era... does she write her own stuff or is she another Amy Winehouse job?

Amy doesn't write her own shit?!

OT: I haven't heard it yet, but I did listen to that one track David posted. Didn't sound all that special. Plus, as I've stated before, I have this terrible feeling she's a corporate product here to cash in on the Winehouse soul-revival craze...:\

Not a chance. She is a genuine talent and this album has blown me away.

Stepping Stone and Waiting Too Long are definite standouts for me but I would have loved to have had some more upbeat tracks such as the excellent Mercy. I prefer her to Amy Winehouse although the comparison is hardly fair as Duffy has more of a soul leaning. However it is a good album and her voice is excellent. If you love Northern Soul and classic 60's female led pop then this is for you.

Thats exactly what I was hoping for, but some of the slower soulful numbers are class.

I've got a horrible feeling that the success of the album (straight in at #1) could have a bearing on what she does next...less uptempo material.
