I haven't actually heard this album yet (aside from a couple of tracks), but I've heard it is an excellent return to form for Machine Head.
It's on my to-listen list.

While this is a well produced and very compotent metal album, I am still not blown away by it. Aesthetics Of Hate is a good track and while the album is perfectly listenable, there is nothing on here that truly blows me away.

It's the best Machine Head album since "Burn My Eyes". But that's all it is. That doesn't say whether it's alright, good, tremendous or whatever. For what it's worth, I found this album enjoyable, really strong in parts but overall underwhelming.

This album really brings back machinehead to a point , for me personally, that they have not been at since those first to albums.....this album was my choice for best of 2007....because of the complete turnaround that these guys did from their last (not so good) albums.

I appreciate what you are saying from a comparison POV to their back catalogue. HOWEVER in context it is an OK album generically and sais nothing new.

thats all opinion.....I'm just saying that i appreciated the turn around they had....and as far as it being something new, well...personally, I'm not so sure i needed it to be, the album was more than i asked for.....and as far as album of last year.....the competition was slim.
Basically...if you like the old machine head albums..or your just a riff maniac..you'll probably at least dig this album for some spins.
