I'm going to abstain my vote for now. I have a feeling this is a grower and as i've only heard it once I don't feel as though that merits enough to judge it.
If I was voting now i'd vote average based on that when I did listen to it it didn't make me want to turn it off yet nothing i've heard on it has made me want to listen to it again.

It's definitely a grower, at first I wasn't very into it but after a bit I started listening it more and more I grew to like it. I prefer it over anything I've heard Animal Collective do though I'm a bit of Brian Wilson fanboy so thats probably why I love this so much. His voice seems to echo that but it's like he took what the Beach Boys did and made it more spacy and experimental.

The first thing that hits me is a 60's vibe that is prevalent on a number of tracks. There is a strong sense of psychedelic pop running through this, but some of it is really ambient too.

Good Girl/ Carrots is an atmospheric beauty with it's Asian style percussion and Search For Delicious struck me too. This is not what I normally go for but apart from a couple of tracks, I really like it and those couple of tracks could be the growers that Urban and Crowquill mentioned.

The album sort of floats around your head as very few tracks have typical percussion and rely on keyboard and vocals to sustain the rythmn.

#2 on my top ten list of last year. Amazing amazing album. ****ing dig the **** out of it.

It wasn't really a grower and when I purchased it I knew exactly what I was getting. It is an amazing album if not a bit weaker than I expected. Still a very solid pop album.

It really does get better with ever listen. It sounds like everything I would want out of a Brian Eno/Brian Wilson collab project.

Indeed, I wrote this off after the first listen; I'm not a huge ffan of Animal Collective although they have some great moments, and Person Pitch did nothing for me.

But I was speaking to a friend recently who's currently infatuated with it, and she convinced me to give it another go. Liked it much more, and I listened to it again today and have decided I ****ing love it. It'll be getting plenty more plays, fo sho.

It took a whille to grow on me as well, and there are a couple tracks that I really don't like, but overall, it is a fairly good album...I think I was expecting a bit better offering though, and I don't know why.
And I don't know what to vote, because it wasn't very good, but it sure as hell wasn't average....

I know just what you mean by that. I expected a lot more myself. I think the reason for that was the hype from the reviews. I'd got so worked up, expecting something so great. As it turned out, it's a marvellous record, but it's not really what I'd call addictive. I don't wake up in the morning and think damn, I have GOT to listen to that at some point today. On the contrary, it felt more like I HAD to listen to it, just because it deserved it. Not because I found myself deriving much higher pleasure from it.

Animal Collective, Strawberry Jam - that one did a LOT more for me.
