Well. Because for one Battles don't sound like Can, so why make the comparison? I also find it annoying when someone dosen't like something so they tell people who do like it what they "should" be listening to instead. "Hey AC/DC sux listen to Belle & Sebastian instead" You could certainly see why thats annoying right? |
indeed, Battles are not anything like Can whatsoever.
I shall not lie, I've grown to really like this album. It's a bit patchy in places, but there's some amazing moments...and the drummer is outstanding. |
Holy crap. I really love this album. Having heard this I have to vote excellent. I wouldn't call these guys completely original though, and let me explain why.
Does anyone else notice the similarities between these guys and Gentle Giant? I mean seriously, they sound just like them at times. Thats not discrediting them or anything, no one has ever tried to sound like Gentle Giant before. |
like a much less organic version of gentle giant.
they're both hit or miss groups for me. |
Gentle Giant are one of my favorite bands ever. And one of the most unique and underrated bands of the 70s.
|
Listening to it now, I voted Very Good. It could pick itself up in certain places but overall its enjoyable.
|
Talking about this album, I think it IS an amazing outstanding album, but it lacks at the middle. I think the first 7 songs are the most refreshing things I've heard the past year, but the following songs start to sound like repetition. It's a very good album by a very good band and I think they are pretty inovative.

I voted average. The highlights being Atlas and Tonto. It really lags sometimes though.
|
I voted average. It has some very good high's and I am glad that I got it. Atlas stands out but some of the other tracks tend to meander.
