I found this was from the June 2, 1982 show (with guests William Shatner, Peter Allen & Joan Embery).
I'm also looking for any kind of hook, in the melody, harmony, rhythm. Apparently Tommy Newsom (sax) did most of the arranging for that band so I'll look in his discogs. The brass seem to be playing in a 6/8 waltz or swing, so I've been looking for waltzy tunes from that era. (The bass or kick drum seems to stay in 4/4 time). I'm not clued up on early 80s stuff, but defo they could have taken a current 4/4 tune and given it a twist. Last edited by Saulaac; 10-08-2022 at 07:07 PM. Reason: added that the tune could have been arranged from 4/4 into 6/8 |
