Unhappy Help finding a song

I’m looking for an obscure rock song I listened to around 2004-2005, but I believe it was a little older than that.
The song is very slow and depressing. I used to think it was a staind song but it’s not. In the song a man is singing to a woman and you can’t really tell if he is blaming her or thanking her and most lines end with the words, for you.
Something like “I lay here awake, for you” but I don’t think that’s a line.
In the middle of the song the music and lyrics stop and if you turn the volume very loud you hear what sounds like someone hanging themselves with a chair, then the song starts again. One of those songs that will depress you even if your not depressed.
