Default Music from the Museum of the Second World War

Last fall, I went to the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, Poland and toward the end of the exhibit, I heard a song I would really like to identify. It was in the section about the end of the war and the process of starting to rebuild. The song was very bittersweet and kind of familiar to me. It was instrumental and the lead melody was, I think, played on violin. I believe it was 3/4 time and evocative of both Eastern European music and tango. I know this is kind of a longshot, but it was a really beautiful song that’s haunted me since I heard it and I’d love to know what it was. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
