Music from the Museum of the Second World War
Last fall, I went to the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, Poland and toward the end of the exhibit, I heard a song I would really like to identify. It was in the section about the end of the war and the process of starting to rebuild. The song was very bittersweet and kind of familiar to me. It was instrumental and the lead melody was, I think, played on violin. I believe it was 3/4 time and evocative of both Eastern European music and tango. I know this is kind of a longshot, but it was a really beautiful song that’s haunted me since I heard it and I’d love to know what it was. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

House of the Rising Sun isn't too far off methinks.
You were probably lucky to be able to see that museum considering all of the controversy and attempts lately to have it closed. Anyway, you may want to check this out for the playlist that might have the tune that you heard: |
Don't worry about it, rostasi, you can't get em all.

Also, if it really becomes a bugaboo trying to figure out the tune, maybe their offices may have a music listing they can check for you. |
I'll pray for you, rostasi.
