Searching for a Classic Rock song

Hello, this is my first post as a member here on MusicBanter and I am hoping someone will be able to help me out. I am searching for a classic rock song from the 1960s-1980s I believe. It is a slow sort of love song with a male singer and the only major instrument is a guitar. The singing is soft and slow. The only lyrics I can sort of remember is " love, was so easy…. but then it slipped away". Hope I provided enough information to spark someone's memory. Thanks.
