Looking for title or full song from lyrics, old song not on google
It has sort of a sailor-y, work song kind of style and it's sung by a man with an English or maybe Irish accent. The lyrics I can remember are as follows.
Chorus: Away, away, he [possibly "we"?] heard the captain say, The whistle blew for the forward march, We'll make those bastards pay. And Joseph came from Aberdeen, a carpenter by trade Yeah I'm tough as ****, and fighting fit, No stronger man was made The only other verse I remember: A surly [not sure if that's the word] day it surely was For the girls I left behind A [?] flew across my eyes and left me nearly blind I jumped into a muddy hole where 3 dead horses lay Then a roving shell came straight from hell And took my balls away ("away" transitions it back into the chorus) No matter how hard I Google search for them the closest I get is a lyric site that completes the search phrase "Joseph came from Aberdeen a carpenter by trade" with "away away heard the captain say" but when I click the link it says no results found. My dad played the song when I was a little kid (so maybe 14-18 years ago) and I have never heard it or been able to find it since. Any help or leads would be super appreciated of course! |
