Looking for 70s/80s funk song sung in falsetto

Hey guys, there's a song that's been stuck in my head for days - it's sung by I think a black dude in falsetto (or at least the chorus is). Maybe 80s, could be 70s funk style song - and the only lyric I can remember is 'be as one' somewhere in the chorus. Or maybe not.
