this was a favorite of mine in the early 1970s...
somehow I remembered it as "Tank" by emerson lake and palmer... however, Ive listened to every version of that song, by them, and its none of the tunes available on YouTube, though very similar in the building synth parts and general rhythm. it goes a bit like this... the song Im looking for... DUH DUH DUH-DUH-DUM Duh Duh Duh DUHH_ DUH DUH DUH-DUH-DUM duh-dah-duh duh-dah-duh... with this pattern repeating for the entire song. There is a dramatic stop near the beginning, after which the build begins, with various solos, continuing several minutes, and fading at end. A very rememberable tune... by which I mean, I could sing it for you, but cannot remember the song title or band performing(!). This definitely is /not/ "Tank" (the ELP song) which has a l-o-n-g drum solo... the song Im looking for is fairly long, but no real drum solo... so, unless Emerson/Lake/Palmer recorded this variation in a studio, but never put it on an actual album, it cannot be Tank. Anybody hearing this, as I "duh duh-ed" it ? |
