Trying to fiond artist/track.

Hi,
new here, this is my first post.

Back in the 80's or perhaps early 90's BBC radio 1 played a tune. It sounded very like The Pet Shop Boys. So we have the Genre.

The basic premise was that of a "snake oil" sales man selling his wares.
He promised it could heal almost anything. I think it was even described as a "universal panacea" or the like. I am sure that one line even promised it "could even teach {someone} to dance."

Any help greatly appreciated.
