Need Help finding this band
i remember this song i like it was called "The letter" i think..
the song was like a funky R&B song, i don't remember the name of the band but i think they were black i kinda remember the opening lyrics, they went "Give me a ticket for the aeroplane Ain't got time to see the fast lane all my days are gone, imma coming home My baby, she send me a letter" can't vouch for the accuracy of the lyrics, Any help would be appreciated |

It's a really famous song. Y U NO GOOGLE?
Here's the Wikipedia entry for it which talks about the original artist as well as all the covers. I'm not sure which version you're looking for. |

The Box Tops are ok but Alex Chilton did his best stuff with Big Star. You should check them out.

Is it sad that when I think of the song, I think of the parody cover "Vanna Pick Me a Letter"? That was quite popular in the late 80's when I was in junior high. I hate sometimes that the first exposure to some songs end up being parodies. I can blame Weird Al for that.
