Rap song with saxophone sample from famous song
Im looking for a rap song that uses a part of a very famous song thats played with saxophone.
|
I honestly don't fucking know at all.
Is it "Death of Autotune"? |
Nop. The rap song must be from the 90's. The saxophone song (that is played slow, i think the original song has no lyrics) is from the 80's.

'slow' can be funky, it can be mellow, it can be heavy, it can be sad, it can be any number of things. how about an example of the actual original saxophone song so your options can be narrowed based on artists that have used the sample. are there other traditional instruments (flutes / clarinet) or is it just solo saxophone? otherwise is it this one? (the sax is slow and skronking throughout, keeps the beatbox fresh sounding). |
Nop, none of them. Im uploading an mp3 of me whistling the saxo part: (remove the spaces)

the only thing that reminds me off is a flute loop in an old Beastie Boys track on Ill Communication.

Nope, the group is not a white band. I had that song, i remember the group name was something like ghosts or something like that (not souls of mischief, at leat i have the 93 til infinity disc and its not there)

Even though I'm a hip hop listener with jazz running through my veins (grew up around Jazz clubs in Northern California) I have to say that there aren't too many memorable sax samples in hip hop beats and the ones that are memorable earn that distinction in my mind for the wrong reasons.
Let Me Clear My Throat by DJ Kool has a baritone sax riff originally performed by St. Clair Pickney of the James Brown Band. That one's memorable for the right reasons and circa '96 I think. Yeah, sorry nothing really springs to mind besides that, which makes me think it's pretty underground. My favorite rap beat featuring a sax right now is Real People by Common (with an all-star jazz cast). I'm also feeling the Soulive Bridge to 'Bama remix by Hi Tek ft. Talib Kweli: |
i think i know which one your talking about
@asdfchanta i am also looking for a popular hiphop or even a Reggaeton rendition of this song with the often used sax sample. your link of you whistling didn't work for me, but tell me if this delineation of the sax sample follows the tone and pitch of what your thinking of:
