Hey, Conan,
I agree with you...PETA should have ad campaigns and news commentary that reflect their main goals, which don't revolve around flies, and being remembered for flies is bad when their main goals are not well known by the public. While protecting flies is a nice philosophy (I actually do catch-n'-release!), I would recommend PETA focus on their bigger issues (livestock confinement, etc.) directly. I also was dismayed, and told PETA so, when they said (and you may not remember this) that people should drink beer instead of milk. I felt and still feel this ad campaign was detrimental to the animal rights cause and to people, since beer and alcoholism are such a huge problem, plus cow's milk, while not perfect, has many healthful nutrients, while beer does not (although some on MB may disagree :-). I also opposed PETA's ad campaign that sexualized and objectified women (harming women's equality) to support animal rights. Thanks for asking! --Erica
Hi, Conan--I wrote a post replying to your comments about livestock populations and PETA. I just wanted to make sure you knew I didn't overlook them! --Erica
