M4A? That's probably because it came straight from my CD copy, which is about 5 or 6 years old, so sorry about that.

I picked up the old mandolin for about £100 a few years ago, tried to learn a few tunes then just forgot about it. Around New Year's though I started a fling with this Irish lass (only lasted about 2 or 3 months), who encouraged me to start playing properly again, which is cool I guess. As for the sax, that's the only instrument I've ever taken lessons for, which is just as well as it's much more complicated than you'd imagine listening to X-Ray Spex or whoever.

Sitar sounds uber-awesome but, yeah, they are huge. Even I'd struggle to play one of those things (I'm about 6'4/5'' myself). At least us western types can compensate by the learning the flute eh - no size probs for anyone there ;-)

And, yeah, Shane looks dead weird now. Always did really - it's why he's such a lovable drunk <3

Lust For Life.rar - there ya go. The quality's a bit muted, but it's just the same on the CD copy I ripped it from, honest guv!

I'm not really so great at bass, but you don't really need to be to play songs like I Saw Her Standing There, the Night Before and so on. Stuff like Hey Bulldog's always a pain in the arse though. I'm a lot better at the alto sax and mandolin of all things though. I've always wanted to give the sitar a try though - Within You Without You and Love You To - <3

And, yeah, I'll shout if I like the look of something eh. Also, feel free to have a snoop round my lastfm page and if you like the look of something on there yourself, I'll get a link organised. I'm stuck living with my parents 'til I can move into my new flat in about 10 weeks, so I'll have the time to :p

When all's said I just plain don't like Sigur Ros, Muse, Radiohead or Tool, so I know how it feels just not buying into the fuss over someone a load of folks tell you you should definitely dig.

As for the Beatles, I had exactly that same reaction after they first really clicked with me, to the extent that I started playing bass in a Beatles cover band in my old uni. Who knows - maybe you might get to that point too ;-)

If you fancy a link for Lust For Life and/or Brick By Brick (another one of his best albums), just let me know. Upping a link won't take long, so I don't mind taking the time to do so.

I'm not so sure really - they're both very different albums. The Idiot's good if you're feeling good 'n' miserable, great night-time album too. Lust For Life's basically the opposite. Plus it has this song on it, which is probably my favourite Iggy song - YouTube - Iggy Pop - Tonight. I remember picking both those albums up years ago and listening to them religiously back when I was only just getting into good musicks, so I know them both pretty much note for note.

By the way, based on the amount of Beatles plays on your lastfm page, I think I can forgive you for that Bowie/Costello/Dylan remark way back when in the unpopular opinions thread
    ;-)

Hello there m'lady, and welcome to my MB best fwends list. Priveleges include 1 member ban request, a free copy of Allison Moorer's new album and a future mention in Dali's Editor's Pick thread.

Seriously, cheers for the add. Nice user title too - Lust For Life is one hell of a tune (don't even get me started on the album).
