That's Love of Life by Swans. The song I posted in that review was "Her".

which album was it you mentioned in your Moon thread, with the "johnny cash suicide watch" song? I quite enjoyed that ditty.

Love of Life is my favorite, with White Light from the Mouth of Infinity and The Great Annihilator tying for a very close second. I think of these three as making up a particular moment in their career that combines the hard, abrasive edge of their early albums with the layered folkiness of The Burning World and the more atmospheric attributes of the last two albums they made during their initial run.

No doubt man, i was super bummed when the new Sabbath album contained no Bill Ward, even though the new dummer was competent and the live drummer was even better, it's like a missing piece of vibe. But while were on the idea, which Swans album do you dig most?

I still haven't listened to either of the albums they've done in their new incarnation. I keep meaning to, it's just sometimes I wish bands I loved when I was younger that have broken up would stay that way and I have a hard time getting excited about new material from them. I don't know why exactly, just a quirk of mine. I've heard both albums are good though, especially the most recent one.

there was a painting up in a local pizza place/club for awhile (it now resides somewhere else i go) that looks like your avatar, only there was a snake man in white garb on top of a human man in white garb and he was holding that mans arms down instead photographing. i also believe it was painted in a landscape style, not portrait.
