HAAMOJA - Return To Zero (2015) [Djent / Jazz Fusion / Classical]
Not a lot known about this guy, other than the fact he's a young (likely college age) keyboard / piano prodigy living in China. His style is gorgeous and meticulously technical, drawing from a variety of influences that includes djent, Chick Corea and Joe Hisaishi. Huge potential - if he's this good already, where could he go in the future?

Psychemagik - Valley Of Paradise (2019) [EDM / Psychedelic Rock]
A groovy electronic piece extensively built off a David Crosby vocal sample to great effect. Danny McLewin and Tom Coveney are fairly well regarded in the DJ world and I like how eclectic their styles stretch on Psychemagik's various cuts. Very enjoyable.

Gary Willis - Larger Than Life (2015) [Jazz Fusion]
One of today's pluckier bassists going off into the blissful fantastic with this hypercool slice of modern fusion, complete with some virtuostic sidemen and way above average writing chops. The LP comes across as something a more modern incarnation of Return To Forever might have cooked up had they stuck around.

Prefab Sprout - I Trawl The Megahertz (2003) [Ambient, Classical, Spoken Word]
An artfully interwoven series of dream fragments, spoken as a narrative over a mournful arrangement of strings and brass. Beautiful melancholy personified.

Amon Düül II - Surrounded By The Stars (1972) [Krautrock]
Some good psych-tinged Krautrock with rich sense of momentum and rhythm. Chris Karrer exquisite violin is a narrative highlight, adding to the instrumental richness of the melodies that crop up. Solid as it gets.

Swing Out Sister - The Kaleidoscope Affair (1989) [Instrumental / Ambient / Jazz-Pop]
Cool instrumental piece that sounds somehow creepy yet especially rich & cinematic. It feels like you are watching the procession of a dark carnival or tuning into an especially reflective sequence from an epic 80's noir.

Frank Zappa - Inca Roads (1975) [Avant-Garde / Space Rock / Jazz Rock]
I love the George Duke era of Zappa so much. Funky, playful and the playing is ridiculously tight. Everyone has their own favorite phase of Zappa's music, but One Size Fits All is underrated as hell.

BT - Good Morning Kaia (2006) [IDM / Post-Rock / Ambient]
BT has stupid hair and he's extremely inconsistent, but he did create one of the best ambient-meets-post-rock albums of the 21st century with This Binary Universe. The main piano melody that runs through this particular cut is devastating and as the song builds over it into a gradual tsunami you find yourself being pulled in despite the bad hair.

RA - Do You Call My Name (2002) [Early 00's Radio-Rawk/Metal]
Always thought of these guys as Disturbed's more musically gifted / ambitious cousin. This particular jam popped up in a random spin and it made me happy as hamburger helper. It helps that Sahaj Ticotin is a a legitimately great singer.
