Lungs by Big Black

Recorded in 81 when Albini was 19 this extended play immediately showcases his signature sound of piercing high pitched extremely direct guitar playing and bravado drenched vocals. Even though it’s obviously deeply influenced by Johnny Ramone and Iggy Pop it’s also entirely unique. Recorded on a teac 3340 reel to reel, perhaps in his dorm room at Northwestern, Albini created this unassailable masterpiece on his own without his future Big Black bandmates. A true DIY triumph.
