Terje Rypdal
What Comes After

Got a very large batch of mostly ECM label artists so I'm gunna be playing a lot of fusion and avant garde jazz in the shop when I can. This is an excellent album that I've never heard before today. Really groovy.

Charles Mingus
Let My Children Hear Music

Absolutely bonkers recording. Classical music? Kinda. Avant garde bordering on free jazz? Kinda. Experiment Ellington like big band sounds? Kinda. F*cking elephant noises? Kinda.

It's a whacky piece of art.

That was one of my picks for Trollheart’s album club.

I almost played it back to back but I got other sh*t to listen to that came in today.

Ron Carter
Spanish Blue

Yeah boy. Cobham on the kit and some sexy Hubert Laws on the flute.

Barre Phillips
Mountainscapes

Well this is the first time I've heard this. It looked real interesting to me when it came in. Holy f*ck. This is fantastic. Really creepy and unsettling double bass/synth/baritonesax/bass clarinet soundscapes. Very enjoyable.

This is a solo bass album I really like

Emerald Tears by Dave Holland. He made a record with Barre.

Honestly surprised this didn't come in with the jazz collection we bought yesterday. I'll give it a listen.

Richard Davis
Philosophy of the Spiritual

Really somber and quiet record. Not my cup of tea but there's plenty of nice moments.

I’ve never heard it but it looks like a winner.
