I did not gather that from the score oddly enough. Very derpy.

Van Morrison
Veedon Fleece

Certainly not his best but there's something about Van's voice that washes over the shop well. It's just always a nice play when he's spinning. Customers like it. I like it. Everybody happy. I'll branch out later in the day.

Sun Ra
Lanquidity

Now it's my time to shine. I'll say that I did pick a rather accessible Sun Ra to spin but it's f*cking Friday and I'm going to play what I god damn please. This is a re-issue. If it was an original it'd be behind glass.

Everybody’s happy because it’s a masterpiece. You Don't Pull No Punches, but You Don't Push the River is as good as anything else he ever did.

It just kind of flutters along though. Astral Weeks is his masterpiece IMO. Veedon Fleece is just kind of a meander-er but a nice one at that.

The rest of his work is just hit or miss with me. To be fair, I haven't gone too far down the rabbit hole though which is why I asked you. Your enthusiasm might change that.

Nice, and surprising, to hear Ornette's "Free Jazz" last night on prime time TV (it was on "Big Bang...").
