And now, for a look into the "WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING?" files.

This is the Standard Mfg S333:

https://i.postimg.cc/9fpRhvBM/22.jpg

It is a hammerless, double-action-only 8-round double barrel revolver, chambered in .22 WMR. Each pull of the trigger[s] fires 2 rounds.

It features 2 triggers [one for each barrel], with one of them being a longer, 2-finger style trigger. It has an aluminum frame and a polymer grip, weighing in at just 18 ounces when empty. It has a MSRP of $369 USD and a duo of 1.25" barrels.

QUESTION:
What the fuck is going on with that trigger guard? Did you run out of plastic whilst making it?

The manufacturer recommends Dutch loading it with alternating hollow points and shotshell.

Kel-Tec CP33

Kel-Tec has a new semiautomatic pistol in the works. The CP33, chambered in a budget friendly .22 LR, features a
33
+1
capacity [a 50-round extended magazine will also be available], utilizing a brand new quad-stack magazine.
It has a threaded barrel, so you can easily attach a muzzle brake or suppressor, a full-length Picatinny rail on
top, an M-LOK slot under the barrel, accessory attachment points on each side and at the rear, and adjustable fiber
optic sights. It has a 5.5" barrel. Unloaded, it weighs ~ 24 ounces. The MSRP is $475 USD. In true Kel-Tec style,
they make their innovations as ugly as humanly possibly. I foresee many a problem with that quad-stack magazine
[jams, failures to fire, stove-pipes]. Assuming it actually functions, this would be a fun range gun, as .22LR is the
most widely produced caliber of ammunition on the planet. I've seen bulk caches go for as low as $0.03 USD / round.
While it's always nice to see a new firearm come to market, I wish Kel-Tec would work on keeping their existing products
on the shelves. It's damn near impossible to find a PMR-30 or CMR-30.

New Hi-Point Tactical 9mm Pistol

================================================== ================================================== ===================================
NEW HI-POINT TACTICAL 9MM PISTOL

Hi-Point recently unveiled a new pistol at this years SHOT [ Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade] Show in Las Vegas.

Chambered in 9mm Luger, this pistol has a 10-round double-to-single-stack magazine, which is new to Hi-Point, whose pistols and carbines up to this point
have all featured single-stack magazine [their current 9mm pistol offering, the C9, only has an 8-round single-stack magazine].

This new firearm features forward and rear cocking serrations on the slide, a threaded barrel [to attach a muzzle brake or suppressor], an ambidextrous
safety, a secondary backstrap safety and a lower accessory rail [to attach a flashlight, laser sight, bayonet or whatever floats your boat]. It also features
holes to mount an accessory rail or optics to the top of the slide. It is the first firearm to feature Hi-Point's new logo.

Hi-Point hopes to have this gun on the shelves by the end of 2019, with a MSRP of ~ $200 USD. Extended magazines with capacities of 15 - 20 rounds
are also in the works, and, according to Hi-Point representative Dave Kiwacka, this new design may work itself into other models.

MY TAKE ON IT: For $200 USD, this is a hell of a deal. Hi-Points are made in America and carry a lifetime warranty. But why half-ass it? If you are going to
spend the time, money and effort to make new production molds, why just add 2 rounds to the capacity? A double-to-single-stack magazine? Are you
joking? Why not just go full-on double-stack, like your fan base has been asking for for 20 years?

I wanted to see what this looked like with the cylinder open and decided to just post the image to save anyone else the trouble. Seems gimmicky but it’s also ****ing frightening as well. Especially with the hollowpoint and shotshell blasting out at the same time. It’s designed to kill, that’s for sure. Tbh though, irl I’d rather just have the trusted old no frills 38 revolver. That thing seems like it might jam or backfire or some ****. Plus, one thing I like about revolvers is that it’s easy to wrap your head around the mechanics but this thing is a bit of a head scratcher thus the image of the open cylinder.

It's definitely gimmicky, which means that demand > supply for this baby. I'd take a .38 Special / .357 Magnum over this as well. But if you want a revolver for self defense, I'd go with the Taurus Judge, chambered in .45 LC, .454 Cassul & .410 bore shotshell. Or if you prefer death by 1,000 cuts, there are 10-round .22 LR revolvers. I'll make a post about revolvers later tonight.

No need to be dumbfounded by this thing. It holds 8 rounds. They go off 2 at a time, so you essentially get 4 chances to shoot, which sucks, because if you aren't a good shot, you're wasting ammo.

A gun with two barrels? I think Rob Liefeld just came.

What do you think of loading a regular 38 revolver with alternating bullet types like that?

It really depends on what type of situations that you think you'll encounter.

You can load some shotshell, but know that it won't kill. It will wound, and possibly set you up to make a kill shot afterward.

It's also difficult to remember which type of ammo you have chambered.

Instead of Dutch loading, I would maybe fill 1 speed loader with all shotshell, and then just rely on +P ammo as your primary.

But if you don't have any speed loaders, maybe load the first round with shotshell and the rest with +P.

Ballistics 101 has some good info as far as ammo goes, including a muzzle energy calculator. Keep in mind that their figures will vary depending on your barrel length.

That surprises me. My thinking was well a 12 gauge is deadly af but I guess the difference in power is much greater than I realized.

As far as self-defense revolvers go, I would recommend the Taurus Judge. It comes in
many iterations, with barrels ranging from 2.5" - 6.5", but the best one [in my opinion]
is the Taurus Raging Judge Ultra-Lite. It holds 7 rounds and is chambered in .45 LC
/ .410 bore. It has a 3"chamber, so it can accept magnum shotshells. And goddamn,
is it one sexy firearm!

Unfortunately, in their infinite wisdom, Taurus discontinued this model. So
if you find one for sale, expect to pay out the ass for it.

They replaced it with a 6-round revolver chambered in .45 LC /.410 bore /
.454 Cassul. But this version only has a2.5" chamber.

If you are on a budget, they offer a 5-round polymer version called the "Public
Defender" chambered in .45 LC / .410 bore with a 2.5" chamber. It has a
MSRP ~ $470 USD.

Smith & Wesson has a similar offering in "The Governor." It is a 6-round revolver
chambered in .45 LC / .410 bore [it also chambers .45 ACP with the use of moon
clips]. It has a 2.5" barrel and a 2.5" chamber. It has a MSRP of $869 USD.
