![]() ![]() Turns Album by Silke Eberhardt and Uwe Oberg This is a third stream contemporary classical avant garde jazz hybrid released on the legendary Leo Records. Half the tracks are original and the others are at least fairly obscure standards. It’s an excellent record but if I have any complaint it’s that the way they tend to introduce the central themes is a bit too direct. The contrast against the solos sounds a little silly. On the other hand, that’s just me. I could also see it as a positive. Like that putting the themes on display is probably, for many, a refreshing reprieve from the typical avant garde obfuscation. Or is obscurantism a fairer word? Recommended despite my doltish review.
