Colin Stetson
Sorrow - A Reimagining of Gorecki's 3rd Symphony

My respect for Colin Stetson is ****ing monumental. He’s ****ing heroic. He can tackle anything. He’s a maverick among 21st C Non-Coltranian avant garde jazz artists and he also fills the roles of John Williams and Aaron Copland. What he tackles here is so big and so triumphant it’s a heartbreaking beautiful gift that only he could give us. He packages our humanity up for us. He says you know what? It’s not just a big worthless joke. You mean something. Your sorrow isn’t nothing.

Most high. 10/10
