I remember seeing this ad. It was the first time I had ever heard of the idea that just words could be a form of abuse. I knew that there was something wrong with how I was being raised but that really brought home how profoundly wrong. Not that it stopped at verbal abuse but that the verbal abuse was almost constant. I was called a “worthless piece of ****” more frequently than my name. On and on and on constant insults and yelling and threatening and belittling.

I’m grateful to the people who made that ad because when I realized it was abnormal it took a lot of the power out of the abuse. It made me think “hey I’m not the loser you are”

That was a great ad campaign. Those people ****ing reached me.
