False Readings On
Studio album by Eluvium

Those who know my taste and know this musician should be able to guess I love this record. After the robots kill us all they will play this record at our funeral. You won’t be able to hear it though. You’ll be dead. So listen to it while you still have the chance you disgusting organic meat puppet

Brunei
Album by Vinyl Williams

It seems like I’ve read about this guy on here but searching only led me to a recent what are you listening to now by me. It’s hypnogogic pop. If you like the genre you should like this record. Catching that dreamy vibe by the vocalist is the cornerstone of the genre and you’ll find that done very well here. It could be a bit more stonery or spacey or echoey or experimentally or something to make our privates a little wetter but hey it’s still a good listen

Obligatory side note: John Williams’ grandson

Cue Jaws theme

Junk
Studio album by M83

Great album cover

Pitchfork says this is their weirdest record. Not really weird enough to be very interesting. It’s French. And French in a bad way. Like the France that loved Jerry Lewis.

Well, now we know.

Wide Asleep
Album by Sophie Hutchings

https://sophiehutchings.bandcamp.com/album/wide-asleep

New Age/Classical piano music with some excellent vocal texturing. Solid composition. Very nuanced. Peaceful and interesting. Recommended

Qhapaq Ñan
Album by Gustavo Santaolalla

Santaolalla is the Argentine composer who did the soundtrack for Brokeback Mountain and the exceptional music from 21 Grams. Qhapaq Ñan is a pleasant collection of mostly instrumentals guitar tracks with occasional vocals and other subtle accompaniment. The vocals are in Spanish which, to me at least, keeps them from being distracting. At one point it goes avant garde and then plays music from a street festival that eventually blends back into an avant garde clickity clacking. Most of it is South American sounding new age, however
