How does Willie Nelson release anything to this little fanfare? There was another Demo release in 2003 Crazy: The Demo Sessions. These are different versions and more songs but released digitally only and the 2016 releases apparently received no attention. They don’t even have a mention on wiki or anything. These may not be the go-to versions of these songs but they’re not like throwaway half takes either. It’s Willie Nelson no matter how you slice it.

I’m going to embed YouTube clips, one from this double digital release and the the early Demo album: same very famous track, Crazy

if these trees could talk bones of a dying world

I like Explosions in the Sky and this band does a good job of copying their sound so I like it, too.

It’s not necessarily any better than whatever West African music you might decide to listen to but glory to god it’s not any worse. This German did a good job of not vandalizing this music.

Except with the other dude swapped out with Signor Benedick the Moor. The track you posted was aight.

This is a lot better, also 2016
True Neutral Crew - More a Kid Remix (feat. Shadi and Daveed Diggs)

Bad ass, bro! The running texture of that track and way it uses vocals and ambient sound waves with minimum percussion works really well. Creepy and hypnotic. And the lyrics are fascinating and to me at least cryptic.

“one cannot arrive at the maturity for freedom without having already acquired it; one must be free to learn how to make use of one’s powers freely and usefully. The first attempts will surely be brutal and will lead to a state of affairs more painful and dangerous than the former condition, under the dominance”

immanuel kant

In music unlike sociopolitical matters a state of disrepair is a fine place to visit. It’s only sound. Musical brutality doesn’t inconvenience you. Punk rock noise no waves turn to ripples and then like glass. Your roof isn’t really leaking nor do you really live in a palace. It’s best to be homeless and free when the bugs don’t really bite and the sun doesn’t really burn.

The blank canvass of silence is the only eternal song. Cage put his name on it. The possibilities of sound are finite. Music has already been at the place Kant mentions. Our rewind and fast forward only go so far. Silence equals death.

beyond the streets alaskan tapes

“someday deep in the dark I feel you”

Church. I don't know if this touches on what you're talking about, but I love old school metal, punk, and proto-punk more than the later stuff in general, not because it's better, but it's often a sound that's being explored with wonder and joy rather than a later artist with confidence built on the shoulders of giants and an idea to refine what previous artists have already done.

Take Suicide. Plenty of electronic artists have become far more sophisticated, but Suicide burned their bridges and went to square one, even if square one could never have reached the subtle heights of their descendants. But they arrived at a far more visceral and excited sound than so many of their followers simply because they didn't know what to do and that was amazing.

Wow. Just when you think nobody is reading. That’s a perfect example of exactly what I’m talking about. Have you heard the live recording where they’re booed off the stage during Frankie Teardrop? Suicide isn’t just a perfect example; it’s the BEST example. ****ing solid gold post.
