I was fortunate enough to see this guy back in the 80s

In a just world he’d be a household name.

Certainly excellent and new to me, but based on the first two videos, he pulls a lot from Braxton. Not to say that he's not pouring his own soul into it, which he clearly is and successfully so.

awesome journal, interesting photos in some of the pages. I liked some of the songs I gave a listen to.

Alright this is it. An entire year has passed since the incredible watershed year that was 2016. 1923 1946 1967 1976 1987 2016. Those are the watershed years for recorded music. 2016 was the year DYI broke. 2016 was the year the alienated and the outsiders really made friends with the internet and more brilliant music was showered upon us than in every single former watershed year combined. It was a year of more is more. There has been no comprehensive coverage of this topic. Top whatever AOTY lists can’t touch it. I’m gonna fuc king deal with this bastard. I’m spending 2018 focused on 2016 so we can get this motherfu cker ironed the f uck out. Let’s do this ****. Hopefully, it won’t get too disorganized.

Album: Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande. S hitty pop music. F uck this worthless no catchy tune bitch. She sucks.

Album: Teens of Denial by Car Seat Headrest. S hitty indie or whatever this worthless crap wants to be. Talentless hacks playing poorly written garbage. They suck.

Spoiler for album art:

First album worth listening to is an ambient compilation on the reestablished Silent record label. I remember buying volume one many many years ago. Do yourself a favor and check this out: From Here to Tranquility - Volume 7 (The Renaissance Continues) by Various Artists. If you don’t have Spotify it’s also on BandCamp. https://silentrecords.bandcamp.com/a...ance-continues Light a candle and a joint and space out to this one.

Pitchfork gave this one an 8/10 and it made Exo’s best of 2016 list.

Spoiler for cover art:

Modern Country by William Tyler

This is an excellent instrumental record.

William Tyler is a member of Lambchop.

Glenn Kotche plays drums for Wilco.

Next up is an interesting and important compilation music that documents the creative club sounds from Durban, South Africa.

Picture of Durban - looks hip -

The Sound of Durban by Various Artists

I do remember discussing this on the board already.

Rich Young Ni$$a$ by Migos

When I was growing up we considered where these guys are from the sticks but now it’s a part of the endless Atlanta urban sprawl. Not even in the city limits it went from **** white trash to something hoodlike, I guess.

This is an entertaining “mix tape” by trap mumble rappers Migos. They back up their Gwinnett County ghetto cred with actual real life criminal behavior. Reading up on them I was surprised by how incredibly popular this band is. I think it’s weak sauce to spell nigg ers ni$$a$ but I’m sure they don’t care. They’d probably suck if they did care, honestly. Quality Dirty South. I’m glad people still chop and screw these releases and put it on youtube. Migos are part of a tradition of less talented rappers being better than more talented rappers. Eat your hearts out Rakim wannabes; it no longer matters.

Year in rewind one year behind: The 2016 retrospective continues...

Away with you by Mary Halvorson Octet

Maybe the hottest guitarist going in the free jazz scene everyone want to collaborate with 37 year old Mary Halvorson. With an incredible ear for tidy arrangements and making space for everyone she is an awesome band leader. Everyone gets showcased, every note fits in, egos are checked at the door. This record is a pleasure and a treasure.

Check it out on BandCamp
