Time for a few more videos of songs I'm digging right now. I'll aim to show some variety, but I'll just have to trawl back through my Spotify lists and Youtube favorites and see what interesting things I've been bumping into lately. Here goes:
Lake Street Dive - Side Pony "Pop-soul" seems to be the genre tag. I quite like the energy and liveliness of this track. Camille - Fontaine De Lait There's a wonderful sort of "modernized" Kate Bush vibe to this, peppered with a dash of Françoise Hardy and Jane Birkin. Zara McFarlane - Fussin' and Fightin' Vocal jazz and soul honestly tends to bore me, but this has some character and I quite like it. Sukekiyo - 艶 New material from this band. It's damn cool, but sadly the CD is hard to get in Europe. Ani DiFranco - Binary I've been meaning to give singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco a second chance. Seems she has a new album out, so this is a good place to start. This track is pretty interesting, I think. Bent Knee - Land Animal This band's previous album impressed me quite a bit, so I'm looking forward to finally hearing all of their new album, Land Animal when I find the time for it. The title track is promising, even if the production is, quite honestly, over compressed and peaky when things get busy and loud. Last edited by MicShazam; 11-01-2017 at 04:15 PM. Reason: spelling |

More hand picked tracks. Fresh from Youtube. All of them good, of course.
Rokia Traoré - Né So Singer song-writer from Mali of all places. Alizée - À contre-courant Some French pop from 2003. I'm really impressed by the album this song is from. My best pop discovery since Kylie Minogue! Maylee Todd - Downtown There's a very dreamy vibe to this indie pop number. The video is pretty neat. Digging into her discography, I find an older track that I like even more: . It kind of takes a Daft Punk style and gives it some actual personality and feeling. Makai Kingdom OST - Love, Desire, Affection A bit out of the ordinary, I'm picking a track from an old favorite game of mine. It's just magical. For anyone looking to play some obscure Playstation 2 games, Makai Kingdom is easily in my top 10. This track has an interesting companion piece with a more upbeat version of the same theme, called "Salome The Traitor": Last edited by MicShazam; 11-04-2017 at 04:59 AM. |

Rihanna is definitely a pop artist way more than an R&B artist. She's got spotty albums but what's good is ****ing great. But waiting with baited breath for Ke$ha and Britney, but don't start with Brit's early albums. Start with Blackout and Femme Fatale.

I'd respond but I'm too busy using first pressings of Selling England by the Pound for skeet shooting.

11 Days since I last posted any music here. That's no good! So...
I was going through the lineup of a small, obscure record label called Svart Records. Found this old Finnish 60's folk music gem: Anki - Aamusella Kun Herään I love this song, but sadly, the album seems hard to find. Some French pop from 1973: Jeanne Marie Sens - En plein coeur As a fan of Françoise Hardy, I'm totally on board with this. I found this odd album while leafing through a book of old album covers. SPARKS 1974 Kimono My House Finland has so much good music! Eana - Liehuva liekinvarsi Dying to hear a full albums worth of accordion music? "Chamamé crudo" Chango Spasiuk (2007) That voice... I'm getting goosebumps here, no joke! Mor Karbasi - Shecharhoret I do not recall how or where I found this but... it's pretty cool.
