I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Thanks man, glad to be back.

In other news short reviews either coming tonight after I get off of work or tomorrow afternoon. Also, if you haven't already seen I started up my love/hate ripoff thread again in full swing.

The Not So Weekly Album Wrap Up (Christmas 2016 edition)

Starting things off with Feikn's only demo tape Visse Ting Som Hænder. Possibly the greatest thing I've heard out of delving into black metal since Weakling's album. Filled with these crazy melodic, yet dark, blackened guitar lines and vocals that go between harsh and manic to clean and almost feminine. Its short runtime goes toward its benefit as well; once ideas are presented the band doesn't decide to stretch them out to the point where they are uninteresting, but instead they move on to another riff or musical passage. The folk interludes are also worth mentioning, when the band goes through these folk sections it doesn't feel forced; in fact, it almost feels like a folk band decided to make black metal, but couldn't resist the temptation to show off their chops a little bit. Overall, it's an amazing demo tape that I highly recommend to everyone.
9/10

Alright so I know a few of you all wanted me to expand on my thoughts about this album, but the problem is I don't really have many. The album breezed by barely making an impression on me; I only remember that I was getting really really bored and thought the album went on maybe 25 minutes too long for it's own good. The opening track was great and so was Call To Tinkerton or whatever it's called, but beyond that I either can't remember literally anything and in some cases thought the album was just bad. The production is almost generic sounding sometimes and the lyrics are too cringe inducing too really take seriously. It's just an album that fails to meet my expectations of a good hip hop on any front. I really don't have any interest to go back and listen again either.
5/10

This is one Frown recommend me a week or so ago, and having heard his music a couple times I was really excited to hear it. I was not disappointed by any means. The lush beautiful textures are almost... dare I say it, vaporwave-esque, or at least incredibly influenced by hypnogogic pop music. The blending of these droned out pop sensibilities put through the filter or context of a noise album is really something to behold. There are twists and turns I never really expected the EP to make and I came out of it with anew EP of the year.

8/10

That's all for now. I may do a couple more for this week later on.

The Not So Weekly Album Wrap Up (New Years 2017)

Well it's been a long year, for me it meant applying for colleges (which I really need to finish, I've been slacking), getting a job, getting a car and a laptop, listening to a lot of music, and finally recording my first huge project. So here we are Donald Trump presidency and all ready to start all over again.

Anyways here's my thought on some albums I've listened to recently.

Spoiler for vektor:

Finally got around to the new Vektor album. Final verdict: why the **** did I wait this long to listen to this exactly? What is wrong with me? The melodies are insane, those riffs are face melting, the vocals shred in all the right, those tight ass drums. It's literal thrash metal perfection and I can't find something wrong with it. 9/10

Spoiler for lisabo:

I saw this on someone's 10/10 list so I decided to check it out, and while I wasn't blown away I did have a fun time listening to this. There's just something about this sort of band lineup that gets me to at least somewhat enjoy an album like this, no matter what. 6/10

Spoiler for kalahari surfers:

Next up is a South African experimental rock group called Kalahari Surfers. This is a strange album to say in the least. It's blend of jazz, alt rock, sound collage, and um other stuff... is really something you have to hear to understand. The lyrics are great, the playing is great, everything about the album just works in its favor. While there is filler, the majority of this album is just totally a wonderful unique experience. 7/10

Spoiler for xxxtentacion:

Xxxtentacion for those who don't already know is a very talented rapper from Florida who is currently gaining a lot of popularity in the underground hip hop scene, think Denzel Curry, SGP, Suicideboys, BONES, etc. Currently he is in jail, but before he was locked up he put out this little gem of an EP. The EP itself has no rapping and is instead more or less lo-fi indie, believe it or not. Songs range from Linkin Park esque alt rock (not as bad as you think), and the others are ballads that remind of Teen Suicide or anything Sam Ray related. It's actually performed quite well with some electronics and acoustics coming into the mix usually within the same song. I'd like to see where this guy goes once he gets released. 7/10

Spoiler for qebrus(*^%:

And finally this monstrosity by electronic producer qebrus. "How much further could interesting electronic music move into the void past Autechre?", I asked myself. The answer was stumbling upon this. The synthwork, glitched out rhythms, and electroacoustic noise hisses are just flawless. Everything just meshes together in the coolest way without ever becoming too obtuse and inaccessible . 8/10

I CANNOT RETRACT, I AM APATHETIC AT BEST: A TRACK BY TRACK ANALYSIS

PART 1: I CANNOT RETRACT

The moment I wrote this song, I knew it would be the opener. It . wasn't the first song I wrote after Love Over Mind And Body, but it was the first to really send me down a rabbit hole of sound and ideas. It had a certain reserved energy to it that just felt like something big was about to happen. Little did I know it wouldn't be another year and a half before the project was ready to be released, yet it persisted in my mind as the only logical intro to the album. The song itself is more or less a mission statement to everything the album sets out to be, and hopefully... is. Originally I wanted it to be this near melodramatic piece about apathy and death, ya know typical 16 year old existential pretentious incoherence, and while it does retain some of these characteristics the final product is something a little bit darker; however the melody itself, especially in the second half, contradicts this feeling of unease and fuzz with the most "epic" or "glorious" sounding chord progression I could come up with in my tiny brain. The end result is something between bedroom pop "woe is me" and a triumphant march towards victory. While this makes for a shocking shift in tone I think this works towards the songs benefit. It doesn't just sulk, it finds a solution. Something of a light to grasp onto at the end of a long tunnel interspersed with red herrings. I don't want to ramble on for too long about each track so I'll end it here.
