Time to give a more definitive answer to weather or not I liked Self Defense Family's Heaven Is Earth.
http://cdn.albumoftheyear.org/album/...n-is-earth.jpg So last time I listened to this album I listened to it on a cheapy Bluetooth speaker. This time I'm listening to it on my nice studio quality headphones. So the difference? The headphones actually allow me to hear the musicality of the music. And wow is it better. Second listen and I enjoy this album so much more. It has more depth. That other speaker was playing the lower frequencies more prominently removing certain pieces of the musicality. While the headphones let me hear every nook and cranny clearly. Love this album. Great album. Favorite track is Everybody Wants A Prize For Feeling. |
Today's review is CKY's Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild (Alternative rock, Alternative metal)
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....AL._SX425_.jpg Escape from Hellview: This seems a bit more generic than Volume 1. Not bad but more generic. Not sure if that was the solo but interesting. They used an oscillator. Really cool. Flesh Into Gear: Heavy riff with some synth in the background, cool. Sink Into the Underground: Seems like the band is trying really hard to copy their past stuff. Which gives it a forced feel. Not bad, but not amazing like vol. 1 Attached At The Hip: Yes! This is an awesome verse! I don't remember so much synth stuff before. Frenetic Amnesic: Cool intro. Songs have all been a bit generic so far. Shock and Terror: This riff feels like it was lifted straight out of that first record. The lyric, "the shock and Terror keeps me sane," is going to be stuck in my head. It's really catchy. Plastic Plan: Good song. Feels a bit generic again. Inhuman Creation Station: I love this riff! Holy shit! This song is awesome! Sporadic Movement: Wow! This is getting so much better. Love this riff. Love this song! Close Yet Far: Final song is slowing things down. Is that a pan flute in the background? It's cool to see this band trying something different... And we're back to the generic alternative sound. Final thoughts are that this record was an attempt to sound like the popular alternative music. It feels generic and forced. That said, it's not bad, it has its moments and it has at least two really good songs. Favorite Track: Sporadic Movement |

Man, I used to listen to CKY a lot. Good band for their time but definitely overrated in this day and age.

Today's review is Carly Rae Jepsen's E-Mo-Tion (Dance-Pop, Synthpop, Electropop)
Spoiler for big album cover:
Run Away With Me: I like the smooth intro. Nice. Not bad. Decent song. Emotion: ^ I Really Like You: ^^ Gimmie Love: ^^^ I think I'm done with the play by play cause I'm pretty sure this album is redundant. I'll go back to the play by play if I come across something that goes away from the norm. Four songs later: Wow! This album is long and redundant. I'm on the song Warm Blood and I'm ready to call this quits. At least Meshuggah had the decency to have amazing music that got redundundant after awhile... Wait a sec... What was that robotic voice? This song just saved this album. That was really cool. When I Needed You: And we're back to the redundant wannabe 80s synthpop crap. Black Heart: Much better. As this album inches closer to the end it gets a lot better. I Didn't Just Came Here To Dance: Better song. Much better. Final thought... album is mostly redundant... boring. Not good. Favorite Track: Warm Blood. |
Oh man, I'm really mad right now. Qwerty I need you to hold me back before I beat the **** out of this loser.

Today's review is Korn's Serenity Of Suffering (Nu Metal, Alternative Metal)
http://www.nuclearblast.de/static/ar.../1000x1000.jpg Insane: Heard this song on the radio the last couple weeks. Pretty good. With everything I've heard from the singles, this seems like it could be one of their best releases since the 90's Rotting In Vain: Same story as Insane Black Is The Soul: OMG! This intro is so fucking good. This song has such excellent execution. I am so happy Korn did a return to form. The Hating: Smooth intro. This intro kind of reminded me of self defense family. And now we got some heavy ass music. Wow! Fucking awesome. A Different World To Me (feat. Corey Taylor): I am really excited to hear this song. Corey Taylor is one of my all time favorite singers. Ok. This is starting off really strong... well, this is a different route for Korn. Still awesome. I heard Corey's scream in the background. Wow! This is so fucking awesome. After the disappointment of their last few releases this is such an improvement that I can't even begin to explain how awesome this is. Take Me: Incredible! Everything Falls Apart: This is is like sex to my ears! "This isn't a love song. I would never give you one." I can see myself saying that a lot in the coming days^. Die Yet Another Night: Does the epic music end? Nope! When You're Not There: At this point you know what I'm going to say. Next In Line: That fucking riff! Please Come For Me: Wow! What a way to end this album! Final thoughts: Maybe my love of this album stems from the fact that I had low expectations. Maybe... but either way, this album was a hard hitting riff. It was epic and I can't complain. Favorite track: A Different World To Me |
Hold on, you ****ing like Korn? And you're dissing Carly m8? What is this!!!!
