What is it you're studying?

Journalism. I'm in a four year program but I'm leaning very heavily towards switching into one that would have me graduating next year. 4 years is too much time and debt for a career that relies so heavily on actual experience and will probably make me no money.

Today I review Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill (Pop-Rock, Singer/Songwriting, Alternative Rock, Post-Grunge)
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....VL._SY450_.jpg Did someone say Post-Grunge pop? I did. And it was everything I wanted and more. Emotional, fun, and grunge. I wish I had discovered Alanis Morisette sooner. Wow! This wouldn't be a go to album or ever make my greatest of all time list, but it's still a fun album. Favorite track is All I Really Want. |

Well what a coincidence cause that's exactly what it is.
|
Post-grunge is gross but Alanis is queen and makes it work.
|
Now go listen to Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and be confused and delighted.

Today's review is Forterese's Thèmes Pour La Rebellion. (Atmospheric Black Metal)
http://www.metal-archives.com/images...79556.jpg?0318 Not sure what makes this atmospheric, but i definitely dig it. I listened to this while making pizza, and what a great album to make food too. I found myself operating at twice my normal capacity bobbing my head to the intensity. Definitely enjoy this album. Favorite track: Not sure. The way I listened to this was different from the other albums I listened to. Those were all on spotify and this one was on youtube. Makes it a bit harder to tell what track I'm on. |
Today's review is Meshuggah's The Violent Sleep Of Reason (Djent, Progressive Metal)
http://www.prog-sphere.com/wp-conten...on-620x400.jpg Clockworks: Holy ****! No slow builds, we're getting right to business with a killer riff. Djent is sounding just awesome. Screams(or growls? not sure which it is in this case) are not as brutal as I'd hope for with this riff. But still amazing ripping track. Born In Dissonance: Ok. More Djent. Still badass riff. Is there a new vocalist? I remember Meshuggah having a much more badass vocalist. Monstrocity: Ok. We are getting a bit more technical here. Definitely using what seems to be more riffs. Definitely ripping. I hope the vocals aren't like this for the whole album. And a sweet solo! By The Ton: Ok. Let's slow thing down! Very nice... and we're back to the djent. I was thinking they'd do a song that took a break from this. It's getting kind of tiresome. Wait, we have a build! OK, let's hope the payoff is worth the build. Still building. Give me something good! That was a let down... Violent Sleep Of Reason: Have I really gotten so jaded that I can't enjoy some pure djent? Ok. I think I've gotten complacent with this. They have nothing more to deliver. Ivory Tower:^ ... Wait! What's this? A badass solo! Ok. I can jam to this. No don't stop! Come back solo! I want more! Damnit! Stifled: Did someone say more Djent? No! Now stop and do something else! Ok... solo isn't as good this time. Oh, nice out ro. Nice to give me a break from the djent. Nostrum: They worked that intro into this song for the intro. Wow! Excellently executed. This song is better. So much better! Yes! Ok. And we're back to generic djent. Badass solo and the track has redeemed itself! Our Rage Won't Die: And its back to djent... O, O, O'reilly's ****ing ads. Into Decay: Holy ****! Now this is the Meshuggah I remember. This so amazing. Fingers are crossed that the vocalist is more brutal in this track... nevermind. Though the riffing is still fucking epic. This track is what the album should've sounded like. Final thoughts. Boring album, very redundant. The last track and the guitar solos are what saves this album. |
Give Meshuggah time. I didn't like them either at first, with their repetitive riffs and vocals, but if you're like me you'll eventually be won over by their relentless heaviness.
|
You should review the Body Works EP by Megosh and/or For The Dearly Departed EP by The Funeral Portrait
also you should let me down something on your album a |

I mean Tristan is getting a spot cause he's a talented drummer. I haven't talk to Ki about it yet, but he might get a spot cause he's talented with synth based music. I'm not letting just anyone on it. |

Today's review is Self Defense Family's Heaven Is Earth (Post-Hardcore, Emo, Post-Punk, Indie Rock)
http://static.stereogum.com/uploads/...compressed.png In My Defense In Self Me Defend: Slow song. Repetitive riffs and vocals. Gives it an ambient personality after a bit. Talia: The song's have fantastic flow thus far. This is a lot better. Has a bit more of a build. Prison Ring: Ok, we're picking up speed a bit more here. Vocals are a bit more melodic. And we're back to the yelling. And more melodic singing. Really digging the album so far. I'm thinking three and a half stars. Ditko: This song definitely moves away from the guitar driven tracks into a more drum driven song. Really like this song. Everybody Wants A Prize for Feeling: The further I get into this, the more it reminds me of Atlas by Parkway Drive. And the longer I listen the more I enjoy this album. Heaven Is Earth: Slow... very slow. And long Basic Skills: Well, this is a different from the rest of the album. The vocalist seems to of changed... so far, I'm not sure if i love this or hate it. Dave Sim: And we're back to the Atlas sounding tracks. My final thoughts are basically, I don't know if I love this album or hate it. It reminds me of A Moon Shaped Pool in the fact that after the first listen, I didn't know how to feel. Maybe a second listen will help. |
Check your PM.

Interesting comparison. AMSP bored me to tears and this swept me off of my feet on the first listens.
Just curious, how much post hardcore have you heard? |
