Today's review is Brand Bjork's Tao of the Devil (Stoner rock, Jam Band, Heavy Psych)
Brant Bjork delivers again with just a beautifully executed album. Can't believe this album escaped my site this year but boy oh boy. This album goes straight to number two for my 2016 rankings. If you're a fan of stoner music, check this album out. It's worth it. |

The Undertaker So Taker is one of WWE's longest tenured employees. Making his debut in the WWF in 1991 he would remain with the company to this very day. He debuted at Survivor Series and one year later he would defeat Hulk Hogan at Survivor Series to win his first WWF championship. Undertaker would have a match with Bret Hart with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. Shawn would aim a chairshot at Bret Hart, but Hart would dodge the shot accidentally striking Taker costing him his championship. Taker and Shawn would then have to settle their differences eventually in Hell in a Cell. At this same show in 1997 Kane would make his debut by ripping the door off the cell and tombstone piledriving Undertaker allowing Shawn Michaels to pick up the victory. Kane was Undertaker's kayfabe brother. Glenn Jacobs (Kane's real name) strongly owes the longevity of his career to Taker. Undertaker's career would eventually become defined by his undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. Every year someone would claim that they are going to beat the Undertaker and every year they would fail. Takers streak is made up of some of the most legendary names in professional wrestling. Kane, Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka, Diesel (Kevin Nash), Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Jake Roberts, Big Show, Randy Orton, and more. The streak got so important to the legacy of Wrestlemania that it was every year a huge selling point for WWE. When Lesnar ended the streak it was a moment that shocked so many people that they said you could've heard a pin drop in the arena. I remember it happening and I couldn't believe it myself. It felt unreal that he lost. Besides all that Taker is also the Leader of the locker room backstage. He's in charge of wrestlers court (It's a real thing. Look it up.) He's also the single biggest tough guy in all of Pro wrestling. As the Pyro for his entrance was going off he got burned. So what did Taker do? Well, with his first and second degree burns on his chest he wrestled the match. He then went to Wrestlemania where Shawn Michaels surrendered his career to the streak. Undertaker was my favorite wrestler growing up and he's still the wrestler who mesmerizes me when he's on the screen. |

Stone Cold Steve Austin Stone Cold was hired by the WWF after Jim Ross convinced McMahon to hire him. Austin would come into the WWF as The Ringmaster being managed by Ted DiBiase. Austin would eventually drop the Ringmaster gimmick and become Stone Cold Steve Austin. A harsh, angry, and malevolent character Austin would beat the crap out of opponents in the most vicious way possible. This character is seen by many as the character who helped set the WWF in motion towards the Attitude era. Austin would eventually gain crowd popularity. Eventually he'd get to win the King of the Ring where he'd cut a promo on Jake the Snake saying, "You sit there and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn't get you anywhere! Talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16... Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!" T-shirts that said Austin 3:16 would become one of the best selling WWF shirts of all time. On an episode of Raw Austin would break into Brian Pillman's home. Pillman would famously pull a gun on Austin. At Wrestlemania 13 Austin would face Bret Hart in a submission match where the only way to win is to get your opponent to tapout. Austin would get cut during the match. Hart would lock in the Sharpshooter and Austin would pass out in a pool of his own blood from the pain never tappingout earning him the nickname toughest SOB in the WWF. At Wrestlemania 14 Austin would beat Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship. This would put the attitude era into full swing McMahon would be angry that the champion for the WWF was Austin cause Austin refused to follow rules that the WWF had put in place. This would put create Austin's most famous feud of him vs. McMahon. This feud would give way to The Rock vs. Steve Austin and other popular feuds in the WWF. Steve Austin was the WWF's flag bearer heading throughout the companies most profitable decade. He had countless classic matches & a ability to connect with a crowd that no other wrestler has been able to match. |
