Today's review is Alanis Morisette's Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998) (Pop Rock, Alternative Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Post-Grunge)

Front Row - Starts with a chorus of Morissette singing before moving into some traditional post-grunge pop music. I dig.

Baba - starts off with some interesting guitar. Halfway through the track we get a melodic section before back into the grunge pop. This is a badass track.

Thank U - I remember this track. It's a good song.

Are You Still Mad - A simple piano riff with some singing on top of it. Drums come in and progress the track forward. I dig. Got some heavier guitar comes in... for like a second. Huh.

Sympathetic Character - Starts off with some synth and cymbals being lightly played. Very industrial feel to this. Much darker feel to this song. Now I'm getting some feedback in the song.

So far this album feels like Alanis is experimenting with different concepts to see how far she can push it.

That I Would Be Good - Some simple chords playing on a guitar while Alanis sings.

The Couch - Some ambient sounds play as Alanis sings. Drums come in making a Kind of jungle feel. Some ambient guitar drenched in reverb comes in. I dig this.

Can't Not - Ashes far as pop music goes, this isn't traditional pop music. This is all over the place with different stuff. I dig.

UR - some simple guitar plays while a bass pounds in the background to company Alanis voice. Song finds an outro with a harmonica.

I Was Hoping - Bit more industrial playing.

One - This album is going on too long. The music is good but I'm getting tired of it.

Would Not Come - Huh... This song has kind of a hip hop beat to it.

Unsent - Now we're being presented with some acoustic guitar with her voice. A simple drum beat comes in and with some orchestral stuff playing in the background.

So Pure - Starts with Alanis singing till the drums come in.

Joining You - Alanis says two words and then a guitar comes in and plays some power chords. We get more grunge pop and its wonderful.

Heart of the House - A very melodic song. I dig.

Your Congratulations - A piano plays while Alanis sings with lots of reverb on her. A Cello comes in to help the melody along. Now we have a violin as well. Kind of a boring song frankly.

Final thoughts: It feels like Jagged Little Pill was the teenage album and this is the adult album. It seems like Alanis is branching out and trying new things while maintaining the pop sound. Its a great album but suffers from how long it is.

I love Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. Yeah, it's bloated and doesn't have the best pacing, but it's way more interesting and engaging than Jagged Little Pill, which I still dig. Flavors of Entanglement is awesome as well. Curious if I recced you this.

Today's review is Run The Jewels' album Run The Jewels 3 (2016) (Hardcore Hip Hop, Political Hip Hop)

This is a rec from violet. I don't listen to much hip-hop, but I'll give this a fair chance.

Down - Some rap with a simple beat. Nothing overly impressive. The chorus is cool with the girl rapping with him. Seems like it's a rap about coming from a bad situation. A staple of the genre.

Talk To Me - I dig the beat here.

Legend Has It - Has some robotic voice counting down as apart of the beat? I have to say, that's a pretty cool concept. These guys have killer flow.

Call Ticketron - A synth plays while someone snaps.

Hey Kids (Bumaye) - I like the beat.

What does Bumaye mean? I googled it and I'm not sure what the significance that song is to this song.

Stay Gold - Starts with somebody talking before moving into a fun beat.

Don't Get Captured - So far the beats have been awesome minus the first song with great rapping... but something about this album just isn't clicking.

Thieves! (Screamed the Ghosts) - I hate being repetitive... Same story.

2100 - Starts with some feed back with a hunting piano playing. Rap comes in and readys the track for the next rapper to up the bpm.

Panther Like A Panther (Miracle Mix) - Starts with some rap with a haunting synth. Then he picks up the rap with a very primal(?) Beat.

Everybody Stay Calm - Cool beats with great rap.

Oh Mama - Starts with some synth replicating a guitar. I actually really like this track.

Thursday in the Danger Room - I'm kind of surprised this doesn't have the experimental Hip hop tag on RYM. These beats don't feel traditional. Pretty awesome stuff. And a Sax outro to end a cool track.

A Report to the Shareholders / Kill Your Masters - A fun track with a sentimental feeling to it.

Final thoughts: I am not qualified in anyway to review a hip hop album. It's a genre that was not really in my ear growing up. But I'll try to do justice. Nothing about this is bad. The rap is pretty great, the beats are interesting, fun, and different. It feels like this should be a five star album... but i can't give it that.

I'm not going to sit here and dissect this albums lyrical content, but I found it extremely hard to relate to, which significantly hurt it's star rating.

I typically give RTJ3 a solid 8/10. It's got some of the best tracks they've done, and some very decent tracks. Way more solid tracks on RTJ3 than RTJ2 though.

Today I review Soundgarden's Ultramega Ok (1988) (Grunge, Alternative Metal, Stoner Rock) in honor of the death of frontman Chris Cornell.

I haven't listened to this album since I was a teenager, but I remember feeling it wasn't very good.

Flower - This is so much more punk than Soundgrden's later stuff.

All Your Lies - Damn good shit.

665 - This song is very weird. I love it! Lol

Beyond the Wheel - Oh shit that guitar! This is awesome!

667 - These numbered track interludes are weird and awesome.

Mood for Trouble - This is all so much faster than I remember it being. Feels a lot more punky. I guess you can say you can hear the Soundgarden's influences a lot more in this album.

Circle of Power - Fuck this is badass!

He Didn't -

Smokestack Lightning - This song is more of they'd become but more bluesy.

Nazi Driver - Hey, it's a song about Batlord... Badass song though.

Head injury - More of that punky feel.

Incessant Feel - I dig.

One Minute of Silence - Fucking John Cage wannabes.

Final Thoughts: I remember the production on this being so bad. I'm going to assume the version on Spotify is a remastered version. If so, the album is absolute badassery. The only real issue I have is the I want to be John Cage track.

Best of the Super Juniors 24 is Currently happening.

Riccochet vs. Ospreay II exceeded expectations. I think those two are two of the best high flyers in all of Pro wrestling.

Dragon Lee vs. Hiromu Takahashi was an amazing main event for day 1.

Marty Scurll continues to impress in the event as well.

I also have no idea who's going to win the event. Every wrestler feels like a probability.

Today's terrible review is Soundgarden's Louder Than Love (1989) (Grunge, Alternative Metal, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal)

You can still hear the punk influence all over Soundgarden in this album. But you can also hear the sound they would become famous for taking shape. Ultramega Ok had bit of a punk vibe while this album seems to be more of a Alternative grunge album.

I don't have really anything bad to say about the album. The production could use some work, but it doesn't ruin the music or anything. Cornell seems to have improved as a singer, he's really bringing out that monstrous voice that'd become a staple of his later music.

It's time for another shitty review with 1blankmind.

Today's review is Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger (1991) (Grunge, Alternative Metal, Heavy Metal)

So this album is generally considered the one that gave Soundgarden their major breakthrough success. The sound that Soundgarden became known for really comes into fruition here.

While this is a fantastic album it's not their best. Maybe second best. The albums production is a massive step up from their last two records. There are no songs I would call weak, nothing I'd call bad. All good shit.

So, I was going to write a review for Superunknown, but then I decided that I didn't want to write a long thing of me gushing over my favorite album. So I thought I'd tell the story of this albums importance to me in high school.

I was 16 and just began to discover grunge. I first heard Nirvana from a compilation album my parents had and was blown away by it.

That's the Nirvana greatest hits that had You Know You're Right.

Since I was a teenager and probably the angstiest teen to ever angst I had to dive deeper. So I discovered Pearl Jam's Ten, Alice 'n' Chains' Dirt, Stone Temple Pilots' Core and the best album from Soundgarden. Their Superunknown.

Spoiler for big cover:

Initially, I hated the album... I wasn't the biggest fan of Cornell's vocals. It took me awhile to come and appreciate the album for the genius it was.

Now it's one of my all time favorite albums.
