He listened to the wrong self-titled album.

This is the wrong album. They have two albums named American Football with the new one being a reunion one, which is what you listened to. Go listen to the 1999 one as it's their magnum opus.

Well... huh?

There's a 1999 American Football and a 2016 American Football. You were supposed to listen to 1999 but you did the other.

I got that. I just don't get why they would give two albums the same name... I mean at least call the second one American Football II.

It's called American Football (2016).

That would explain it.

Today's review is American Football's American Football (Midwest Emo, Math Rock)

http://cdn3.pitchfork.com/albums/205...e.3a9d7a66.jpg

Apparently I listened to the wrong album. And since I'm listening to this for the Rock Album Survivor thread I'm going to give them another listen. Better be better than the more recent album.

Never Ment: Ok. Starts off with a mistake in the music. And the music begins with soft melody. Pretty good.

The Summer Ends: Soft melodic guitar. I heard a horn. And it mixes into the music much better this time. Really like this song.

Honestly?: Really like the guitar in this intro. Transition was sudden but worked. I like this song thus far. Soft guitar with heavy drum build! This is awesome. Well not quite the payoff I wanted from that but still good.

For Sure: Like this horn in this. Mixes well this time around.

You Know I Should Be Leaving Soon: Nice intro. Well done guitar and drum mix here. I haven't heard any vocals so far and kind of prefer it that way. I find it more enjoyable.

But The Regreats Are Killing Me: Good song.

I'll See You When We're Both Not So Emotional: Neat drum work.

Stay Home: Not a single vocal and I'm loving it.... Nevermind.

The One With The Wurlitzer: Like this song.

Final thoughts: This music has really good instrumentals but suffers from the vocalist. And not because he's such a terrible singer, he's good for what he does, but because he just doesn't bring a lot to the table. Seems musically his limited vocal range his holding back a truly great band.

Favorite track: You know I Should Be Leaving Soon

Today's review is The Get Up Kids' Four Minute Mile (Midwest Emo, Pop Punk, Emo)

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped.../95/Gukfmm.jpg

Coming Clean: **** that had a punk intro. Wow! This is an odd combo. We have what I have come to know as Emo combined with punk. I love this. It's fucking great.

Don't Hate Me: Acoustic intro. This is more Emo. Wait! It just got punk. It's bouncing back and forth between Emo and Pop Punk. It's pretty awesome.

Fall Semester: Sweet intro. Just got heavy, and it bounced back to melodic. Wow! This is awesome. I love this.

Stay Gold, Ponyboy: Fucking yes! This is awesome. Song faded out and comes back in to set up the next song.

Lowercase West Thomas: Wow, this song is awesome! I wish it was longer. :(

Washington Square Park: And more straight up punk(or pop-punk if you prefer)! This is awessome.

Last Place You Look: Yes! This is great.

Better Half: I really enjoy how this album is bouncing back and forth between pop punk and emo. It really allows the music to grab your attention and never let go.

No Love: Good song. I love the Punk vibe.

Shorty: Nice melodic intro. Nice drum work. Great transition into more of that punk sound. Great song.

Michelle With One "L": Soft intro, into a a nice punk vibe.

Final thoughts: This may be one of the better albums on the list. Not as good as Cursive's Domestica, but better then anything else that has been on the list thus far.
